Chain link fences around drain yards and plastic ponds
Full of tubes, burble for fallen heroes.
Cops on TV in fishtown barbershops
Stacks of modern stucco between barn shacks,
Neon crosses affixed to churches
Advertise faith in a safer future.
Don’t need it, as long as we remember
It doesn’t matter why we’re here.
